Coopers Hill -

13 May 2006

Bernard leads a strenuous walk from the car park at Fiddlers Elbow
In the car park as we set off to first climb Coopers Hill
.
Where we stop at the top to admire a new feature
.
As well as checking on the cheese rolling slope
.
While Bernard, our leader, works out
.

The safest way down
.
The farmer has tied a pretty complicated knot on this gate
.
And they don't seem very pleased to see us in their field
.
Still we soon escape over a stile
.
It must be milking time
.
Setting a cracking pace, Bernard still studying his notes
.
These guys seem pretty friendly
.
The mud gets a bit sticky here
.
As we head up Cud Hill
.
Where we study the Blow Familly graves
.
Before stopping for lunch
.
Then it's up Painswick Beacon
.
Where Richard has a breather before the last pull up
.
Mike's view from the rear
.
We admire the views from the top
.
Of the golf course
.
And the hill fort ramparts
.
Off we go again
.
And down again to take in Prinknash Abbey
.
And ploughed fields
.
Before the final climb with interested spectators
.
Some under a splendid horse chestnut tree
.
Through a final squeeze stile, which tested some girths, and back to the cars
.

top As you can see, we thoroughly enjoy getting to know the South Cotswolds. We try to keep fit and succeed in having a good old chat. If you are interested in coming with us, see our walks programme and ring the leader if you have any questions about a particular walk. After two or three walks we hope you will then want to join the group as part of the national Ramblers' Association.
