Painswick Beacon and Cud Hill -

29 April 2006

23 were out on Jacqui's walk including a party of Americans checking out the area.
We set off from the Walkers Car Park
.

Towards Painswick Beacon
.
The final assault on the summit
.
And we stop to admire the views
.
{short description of image}
To the South
.
And to the North
.
We stop to look at the stonewalling handiwork of some busy conservationists
.
Discuss the finer points with them
.
And watch them at work
.
Then on to Cud Hill
.
And the Blow memorial
.
If you look through the memorial you can see Gloucester Cathedral. Or is that a mobile phone mast?
.
A long walk through country lanes
.
To coffee with interested spectators, determined to show how its done!
.
Then off down into Washbrook Valley
.
With its stream
.
Heading home
.
Past marsh marigolds
.
With views across the valley
.
In both directions
.
Bluebells out at last
.
And the blackthorn is abundant this year
.

top As you can see, we thoroughly enjoy getting to know the South Cotswolds. We try to keep fit and succeed in having a good old chat. If you are interested in coming with us, see our walks programme and ring the leader if you have any questions about a particular walk. After two or three walks we hope you will then want to join the group as part of the national Ramblers' Association.
