Miserden Mystery Tour -

22 April 2006

Some pictures of Saturday's walk which Richard put on for the poor unfortunates who were unable to make the exotic climes of Sidmouth (see Holiday photos). We were a very select party of eight but the weather was kind and the walk seemed to be very much enjoyed.
.
Our walk starts in Miserden where we pass the War Memorial designed by Edward Lutyens
.

Then heads to the slopes above the Frome Valley
.
Where we spot some new born lambs
.
Before continuing down into the valley and across the river by some dubious stepping stones
.
Then on down the valley to Edgworth
.
And the old church
.
Next to the fiercely guarded manor house
.
With its daffodils
.
Ancient clapper bridge
.
And old gateway where we stop for coffee
.
Then up the hill where we spot a new slant on the old excuse - "lost in the post"
.
Candidates for Last of the Summer Wine? Which one do you think is Compo?
.
We arrive in the Duntibournes
.
Where we stop for a paddle in the ford
.
Then walk along the cart wash
.
Stop for a chat with the only local we could find
.
Admire the village gardens
.
And view the quaint centrally hinged gate to the church
.
Before having lunch overlooking the village green
.
And another chocolate box cottage
.
We then head back up the valley to Winstone
.
Passing yet more lambs
.
Then back into Miserden Park
.
And a welcome rest before climbing back to Miserden
.
With views over the Park
.
And Misarden Park House
.
Before walking back through the village to the cars
.

top As you can see, we thoroughly enjoy getting to know the South Cotswolds. We try to keep fit and succeed in having a good old chat. If you are interested in coming with us, see our walks programme and ring the leader if you have any questions about a particular walk. After two or three walks we hope you will then want to join the group as part of the national Ramblers' Association.
