southcotswoldramblers.org.uk Foston's Ash and Sheepscombe - 18 March 2006 Having thawed out I am now able to send copies of photos of Saturday's walk, writes Richard. |
|
| Well wrapped (temperature 1 degree C and an E wind chill) we meet with our leader Cynthia in the car park of Fostons Ash | ||
| Before setting off across the fields | ||
| To Whiteway Colony | ||
| Then down the hill into Workmans Wood | ||
| With a brief stop at the bottom | ||
| And a chance to chat to some refugees from the Andes | ||
| Before heading towards Sheepscombe | ||
| Where some of us are tempted to take a break | ||
| But we wait for coffee on Sheepscombe Common looking down on the village | ||
| Just below a famous cricket pitch | ||
| Then we head back through Workmans Wood with views down the valley | ||
| .Passing the ponds | ||
| And the National Trust Information Point | ||
| Climbing back up the hill, meeting other path users | ||
| Before arriving back at Fostons Ash for lunch | ||
| Photos and captions thanks to Richard | ||
| As you can see, we thoroughly enjoy getting to know the South Cotswolds. We try to keep fit and succeed in having a good old chat. If you are interested in coming with us, see our walks programme and ring the leader if you have any questions about a particular walk. After two or three walks we hope you will then want to join the group as part of the national Ramblers' Association. |
