Stinchcombe to the Tyndale Monument -

11 March 2006

We had another good walk today over Stinchcombe Hill to Waterley Bottom, then back over Stinchcombe Hill via North Nibley. The weather was kind and the going was good, as they will probably be saying at Cheltenham next week.

We meet in Stinchcombe Village Hall car park where our leader, Ann, explains why we wont be back in time for the Rugby.
Then we set off up Stinchcombe Hill.
Before striding along the edge of the Golf Course
And through woods along the top of the hill
Stopping for coffee with views down to Waterley Bottom
Well you would be embarrassed with ear rings like mine
Two roller borders seen down in the valley
Looking across at Wotton Under Edge
And a well known Travellers site
Striding out towards the Tyndale Monument
With views down over the Severn
.We stop at a topograph to get our bearings
Then follow the Cotswold Way
Too late for this pub
We climb towards Stinchcombe Hill again
The monument now behind us
Ann leads on the final assault up the hill
The view down the valley to the M5
A pause for a final look at the view before we set off down the hill to the cars
Photos and captions thanks to Richard
top As you can see, we thoroughly enjoy getting to know the South Cotswolds. We try to keep fit and succeed in having a good old chat. If you are interested in coming with us, see our walks programme and ring the leader if you have any questions about a particular walk. After two or three walks we hope you will then want to join the group as part of the national Ramblers' Association.
