Crickley Hill and the Devil's Chimney -
5 November 2005
After Yvonne had told us stories of how the Air Balloon Inn (across the road from Crickley Hill Country Park) had got its name, and its connection with Edward Jenner of Berkeley, 20 of us set off led by Alex.
The sun is shining weakly as we set off along the Cotswold Way. Rain is forecast ...
Alex leads us through the Autumn leaves.
We reach Leckhampton Hill ...
...where Alex and Yvonne have planned our morning coffee stop. The wind is quite strong, but we manage to shelter down in the hollows after ...
... taking in the views over the famous Devil's Chimney.
We set off again to continue along the Cotswold Way.
Members have supported our new leaders well.
We head eastwards away from the Edge and complete a circuit back to Crickley. Autumn colours are showing well.
In fact some are amazing!
Can anyone identify this for us?
It starts to spit with raindrops occasionally just before 12:00 but it looks a lot worse than it really is. A great walk for a dull old day.
Non-members are very welcome on up to 3 walks to see if they like them before deciding whether to join. See our walks programme and ring the leader if you have any questions.
