A very
gloomy morning dawns, but we are not downhearted as Ray our leader sets
off along the Cotswold Way southwards until we reach ... |
Horton Manor
and Church where it starts to brighten up a little. |
Ray gives us
interesting snippets of information about Horton Court ... |
... and we
listen with rapt attention. |
The gardens
look well for the time of year ... |
...
especially all the topiary. |
Inside the
church they are getting ready for the Carol Service, and the font is
beautifully decorated. |
Next to the
church is a very old building with a Norman arched doorway. |
Round the
corner are more aspects of Horton Court, which is in the care of the
National Trust. |
Back to
walking, and we pass these delightful, if rather muddy, ponies. |
We head back
across the lowlands, with the Cotswold Edge in view. |
We cross on
to Hawkesbury Common ... |
... passing
two riders, one of whom is mobile phoning - is this allowed? We still
have the steep 500 foot climb up the escarpment to do, the only climbing
we do all morning. |
