Witcombe Circle -
20 July 2004
Angela and Patrick write, "We had glorious sunshine, and were glad that the latter part of the walk was in the woods. Some of the party ended the walk with a drink in Rose's garden at Coopers Hill".
(Thank you to John for the photos and captions)
Our leaders, Angela and Patrick brief us on the forthcoming walk.
View over Witcombe Reservoir
Patrick tells us some of the history of Witcombe Reservoirs.
On a very hot day the water looked quite inviting.
We approach the very picturesque church of "The Blessed Virgin St Mary's" at Great Witcombe.
St Mary's entrance arch with a Roman style mosaic floor made for the Millennium by local school children.
The remarkable sun dial clock on the tower of St Mary's Church dated 1752.
Patrick leads us down a cool track through the wood on Cooper's Hill.
Views of Witcombe Reservoirs and toward Cheltenham in the distance.
