Woodchester and Amberley -
3 April 2004
Olivia billed this walk as hilly, and it certainly is - 1,400 feet of ascent.
We start by climbing from the Ram Inn at Woodchester up to Amberley, on the other side of the valley.
Marie and Norm pose as we have a breather. They say "Hello" to their friends in the USA!
After reaching the summit we traverse the common for a short way until we plunge down again. David points to our next objective, Windsor Edge.
We pose in front of Dunkirk Mill, converted to rather smart apartments from its working origins. Olivia is 5th from the right.
Time for a drink and/or a banana.
We set off again and obtain great views of Inchbrook across the valley.
Blossom time.
We pass the new Crystal Fountal Mill retirement village, built on the site of a former factory. Very peaceful here, some might say a little too quiet?
We make the long climb up to the edge of Selsely Common, before leading back down to the pub. where some of us take a well deserved lunch.
Facts and figures about our two climbs to Amberley and Selsley Common. Windsor Edge is the pimple in the middle!
