Haresfield Beacon and Randwick - March 2004
Maurice leads his first walk for the Group, a 7 miler with a lunch stop. The weather is dry with some sunny spells and 29 walkers turn out.
We set off from Cripplegate Car Park at Shortwood, near to the Topograph, walking towards Haresfield Beacon Hill Fort.
Along the path we meet some short legged Belted Galloways, which live outdoors all the year round and help the National Trust keep the encroaching scrub down.
Our mid morning stop. Views over the Harescombe Valley and out to Churchdown Hill in the sun.
Elevenses are enjoyed (picture taken by Angela, thanks a lot).
Off uphill to the top of the Cotswolds ...
... to emerge into glorious weather on the top. It's all downhill from here to the pub for lunch.
Maurice, third from the left, gathers up the walkers for part two after a good lunch.
No, he's not lost, but the waymarkers are in danger of confusing us here!
Nearly back now, and a good chance for a group shot. Thanks you Jacqui, the camera did work after all!
