Painswick Beacon stroll - November 2003
Tom (4th from left) was our leader for our second ever week day walk (and first stroll) on the 18th November 2003.
An improving day weatherwise as we pose for the Group photo.
Tom and Audrey set off across the common, closely followed by "little" Jim.
The trees have lost most of their leaves after last Friday's storm.
Here we are on top of the Beacon by the old trig point, soon to be removed we believe.
Wide views and an eerie light with the misty Malverns. Can you spot Gloucester Cathedral?
The sun breaks through as we head downhill. Edge Common is in the background.
We turn left and head back towards Painswick. The famous church spire is just about visible against the skyline trees. The hedgerow trees take on their winter skeletal appearance.
Near the end we pass Painswick House, with its Rococo Gardens and famous snowdrops on display early in the new year. Another lovely expedition, thanks to Tom and Audrey.
