Olivia is our leader for a
walk through Pinbury Park. No sun today after two gloriously sunny walks
earlier this month, but no rain either and lovely Autumn colours to
brighten up the scene. |
There is a chill easterly
breeze, so we are glad to warm up by climbing steeply up to Sapperton. |
The path from Sapperton
towards Pinbury is at its Autumn best. |
Olivia (3rd from left) waits
while the party catches up. |
Pinbury Park comes into view.
This was once the home of the poet laureate, John Masefield. |
We turn the corner by the
pond ... |
... and pass the topiary
hedge. Can you see the squirrel? |
At our coffee stop the first
few see a couple of fallow deer making their escape. |
Near Tunley we turn left up
steps and follow the footpath through a garden. |
We approach the Daneway area
again. |
Daneway House is across to
the left. |
Then somthing catches our
attention - a rapidly swivelling ... |
... weathervane - we think it
is a golden griffin - bird of legend. We return through Siccaridge Wood
and along by the canal to the Daneway Inn, where many have a pub lunch. |
