| We parked at the old station yard, which has been coverted very pleasingly into a long stay car park. Here we are looking at a communal art project on the site of the old railway turntable **. It shows the four points of the compass and is made up of hand made tiles (see next photo). ** see Our Guest Book 11 September 2004 - this may have been a base for a yard crane, and not a turntable. | |

| Every tile was different!
Well worth a visit just to see these. |

| We walked through the parkland of the Estcourt Estate. Beautiful fresh foliage. | |

| Peter outlined the history of the estate. The main house was burned down in the early 20th century, and not replaced. The house here is now the estate manager's office, but was probably the Dowager House (the house of the mother of the Lord of the Manor). There are no members of the Estcourt family living in the area now. | |

| A Saudi Arabian prince now owns the estate as a stud farm. Here we are walking across a huge horse paddock. The paths are marked out and kept up very well. | |

| Eventually we arrived at Shipton Moyne Church. Inside the original church were the Estcourt family memorials. When the Victorians wished to build a larger church, they did so around the original smaller one to preserve these monuments, before demolishing the old walls. This was all financed by the family. We could not go inside as a service was being held, but will probably go back another day. | |

| The village pub with the quaint name (derived from hunting we believe). We had a drink stop outside the village hall opposite. | |

| We then walked through the settlement of Doughton. Here is the Elizabethan Doughton Court. Much of the village is part of the Highgrove Estate. | |

| Finally we arrive back in the old station yard, thanking Peter for a most enjoyable flat - but not boring - walk! | |
