Margaret (in red) ready to lead us come rain or shine, and in the
afternoon it did both! |
Most of the walkers had done
a good 6 miles in the morning, but as it was a figure of eight walk one
or two of us arrived at the pub in Stonehouse at lunchtime and just did
the easy bit. |

It rained steadily for a good
half hour. But we passed through delightful scenery along the
Stroudwater Canal, now being restored. Here we are near Nutshell Bridge. |
St Cyr's Parish Church across
the water, still raining steadily and pretty gloomy at this point. |
As you can see, the sun came
out and so did the smiles once we arrived at Eastington, the
photographer sheltering here in the lych gate of St Michael's Church. |
Some of us were fascinated by
the cattle with the horns curling forward, and wondered what breed they
were. Much brighter now. |
Waterfall on one of the
channels of the river Frome. Margaret told us that the river had been
rechannelled into three in this area to power the water mills. A lovely
spot. |
We approached St Cyr's from
the other direction and this time it was much brighter. |
Margaret pointed out the
Judas Tree in the churchyard, and it was but a short stroll back from
here to the end of a very varied walk. |
