May Hill from Lea in Herefordshire
May 2003

Heather and Mike led us on a "hilly" 9 mile walk up May Hill, lunching at the excellent Glasshouse Inn.
May Hill
Here we go up the hill just before lunchtime.
Timber
Jim and Alex have a rest while others catch up.
Caroline in woods
Caroline heading down through the bluebells to the pub.
Glasshouse Hill
The bluebells were extraordinary, with Glasshouse Hill, the Severn and the Cotswolds in the background.
Trig point
Jim explains about the trig point to Olivia on the 976 foot summit of May Hill.
Group in the trees
Here we are posing on the summit in amongst the landmark trees planted in 1885. Behind are a younger clump planted just in case in 1977. A bit windy at this moment you may notice.
Leaving the hill
We head off back towards Lea, May Hill trees in background.
Yellow!
Golden views towards South Wales.
Nearly back
Climbing the last hill of the day - there were at least six, and possibly a mile of level walking in nine! But we seemed to enjoy it - especially when it stopped!
NEW and EXPERIMENTAL! See movie of two of us actually walking!
(You will need to WAIT a minute or two for it to load)
