Bernard was our leader for an all day walk, starting at the foot of
Robinswood Hill. |
It was a murky day to start
with, and the forecast was not brilliant, but did that stop us - no!
Here we are reaching the summit of Robinswood Hill, with the Golden
Jubilee Beacon on the skyline. |
Wide views. If you use your
imagination a little, look beyond Gloucester and Churchdown Hill on the
left, and you might just see a light shape of the Eagle Star building in
Cheltenham, with Cleeve Common beyond. In spite of the threatening
clouds it did not rain for the rest of the morning, and we had just a
short spell in the afternoon. |
Here Bernard leads us down
the other side of the hill. We had five visitors today, three via the
internet from Bristol and Newbury, and two from Gloucester through the
composite programme. All were made very welcome. |
After lunch we climbed Cud
Hill, near to Painswick Beacon, and wondered what this archway was -
answers please contact us. But it was near to St Leonard's Well. |
The weather improved and so
did the views. Here we got a glimpse of Painswick Beacon, the bump on
the skyline. |
We made our way downhill to
approach Robinswood Hill once again. |
First we needed to cross the
M5 motorway - noisy or what! Then just across the golf course and up and
(nearly over) the hill again. |
Thank you Bernard for a
lovely walk, and even brilliant sunshine was laid on at the end! What a
star! |
